Grand Xiangguo Buddhist Monastery

The Grand Xiangguo Buddhist Monastery is one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries in China. It was originally named as Jianguo Monastery and was renamed as Xiangguo Monastery in 712, during the Tang Dynasty, for the emperor's memorizing His coronation from Xiang Wang(Prince of Xiang State).In the Northern Song Dynasty,it was enlarged many times because the royal
court thought highly of it.It was the largest of its kind in the capital and the center for Buddhisties in China. In 1671,the tenth year
of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty,the monastery was renovated.Inexistence today are the Hall of the Heavenly
King,Hall of Mahavira,Hall of the Octagonal Glare,Hall of the Buddhist Scriptures and Hall of the Thousand-hand-and-Eye Buddha.
